In honour of this year's Moon Festival on the 22nd of September, we present 'Dragon Skies'.
Stardome is paying tribute to the observations of ancient China with a special show developed here in Auckland.
'Dragon Skies' pays tribute to the observations of early Chinese astronomers. The show is unique and has been developed by the team at the Stardome. 'Dragon Skies' takes a look at some of the ancient Chinese constellations from antiquity right through to the present day, along side stories that accompany the celestial objects.
Designed for audiences with little or no previous understanding of Chinese culture, visitors will share some of the discoveries made by Chinese astronomers along with the tools they used - some of which have greatly influenced our understanding of the universe today.
'Dragon Skies' screens at 9pm from Tuesday the 21st to Sunday the 26th of September 2010.
